The parsley in our garden has gotten out of control lately, see?
So, I decided to make this pesto out of it. The original recipe can be found here: http://www.marthastewart.com/338166/fettuccine-with-parsley-pesto-and-walnut. I like this recipe because I usually have all the ingredients on hand. I just put all the ingredients (parlsey, parm cheese, walnuts, lemon juice, water, and garlic) in my little food processor...
and let the machine do all the work...
then I boiled some fettuccine noodles and mixed in the pesto...
And there's dinner, topped with just a little real parm (not the shaky Kraft cheese kind). It couldn't be easier, it's economical, and it's meatless. We aren't vegetarians, but we do try to limit meat, so meals like this are always a good choice. I also like that it used something we grow in our garden, because I hate letting food go to waste.
Note: I didn't use spinach that the recipe calls for, just because I didn't have any. I'm sure it would be great in this meal. And I limited the amount of olive oil by a smidge. That's how I usually cook- use the recipe as a guide, but change to meet our tastes/what I actually have on hand.

Crawfordsville's One-of-a-Kind Rotary Jail
Here's a shameless post about the museum where I work. It's a rotary jail that still turns and is a one-of-a-kind architectural treasure. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Historic American Engineering Record. Here's a picture of the outside of the sheriff's residence and jail:
Here's a photo of the interior of the jail:
Check out the museum's new blog here: http://rotaryjailmuseum.blogspot.com/. I wrote the first post on it a couple of weeks ago. Look for a new post about a former sheriff tomorrow. Also, here's a link to the website: http://www.rotaryjailmuseum.org/.
If you're ever in the Crawfordsville area, stop by and I'll give you tour!

Knee High by the 4th of July
Happy 4th of July! For those who don't know, we live on Kyle's grandpa's corn farm. The corn went in a little late this year because of all the rain. We've been watching it grow the last couple of weeks and it seems like it grows several inches over night!
Here's a picture of our adorable nephew Sawyer. He spent yesterday morning with us. He's decked out in a patriotic baseball outfit.
Crawfordsville's fireworks were last night, so we've just been relaxing today. Happy 4th to all!

The Gobels' New Blog
Welcome to our blog! We started this blog to update our family and friends about our life. We plan to post pictures and stories.
We have been married for almost 4 years and recently moved to Crawfordsville, Kyle's hometown. Kyle is an attorney and Erin is the curator at the Rotary Jail Museum. We both love Purdue sports and trying new things. Kyle loves movies and Erin likes to bake.
Check back for updates about what we're up to! Bear with us as we learn about blogging...
